Opening this fall.
El Cerrito Supply Co
RETAIL · COFFEE · TOOL LIBRARY · GATHERING SPACE · LOCAL MAKERS
I'm opening a shared retail space with two other local business owners. I'll have a space for home and garden goods, hand-potted succulents, garden design services, plus a tool library I'm helping put together.
El Cerrito, CA
Your home isn't just where you live—it's how you live
Learn to DIY, so you're not waiting for someone else's timeline. Manage your money so every dollar works for you, not against you. Choose things that last, care about them more, and support the people behind them. That's leverage. Freedom over your own time and choices.
KNOW YOUR PRICE
It's not about wanting less. It's about knowing what you're not willing to trade for it. Your time, your weekends, a job you hate.
I like writing about all of it: DIY, money, gardens, and building a life you don't need a bigger paycheck to afford.

I wrote my obituary as a reality check (not because I was dying).
The paycheck didn't justify compromising my morals. I was burned out, hated my career, and knew something had to change. So I left.
I don't have all the answers and I'm deeply suspicious of anyone who does. I'm not here to be your guru (I can’t even watch cult documentaries). But if you're tired of the life you thought you wanted, maybe there's something here that helps.

PS: When I tell people I write my obituary regularly, they get visibly uncomfortable. Took me 40 years to learn it's okay if I'm not for everyone—and that's the whole point of this.

I’m Erica Hennes.
I like to consider myself a Midwestern Californian due to my deep sense of humor, sarcasm, and low tolerance for bullshit, but I still like living somewhere that has sun & water & isn’t flat.
I learned the art of DIY from my parents so I have never been afraid to take on something new. Full disclosure... it doesn’t always work as planned, but I guess I like doing things the hard way.
I am dedicated to featuring a mix of interests, how I approach house finances (I’m shockingly crazy here), DIY projects, sustainability, and most importantly featuring some really amazing small business owners.
If you are interested in working together or just want to say hi, please send me a DM here on Instagram. I like to avoid the formalities of email as long as possible.
We own a tile saw. We use it maybe once every few years. That's basically the whole case for a tool library.
